Sillyness!!!
I spent New Years eve & much of New Years day with my friends Max & Elly. There are many things that I love about both of them, much of which is about their politics & political work. But I gotta say that they draw out my sillyness like nobody's business. Ok, Dev, Matt, Jessica, Mom--y'all are pretty damn good at it too.
I LOVE BEING SILLY.
Making up songs about no se que. Playing kazoos in a restaurant (I never got past the first phrase of any song without breaking down laughing). Making fake eyelashes out of the wrapping paper from the kazoo & getting everyone to put them on (the upshot of which is that I now know the Spanish word: pestañas). Wearing a Groveresque (yes, Grover like Sesame Street--fuzzy & blue) scarf-sweater that makes me look ridiculous in the Lex! eeps!(I might post the picture once it's developed). A comment that starts a whole scene about goats (especially Cuban goats).
Somehow, I've had a lot of the sillyness drilled out of me over the past couple years. But by golly I"m gonna reclaim it! I need the laughter. I need the exercise of my creative brainspace. I need the energy that comes from bouncing energy back & forth in the form of a song, theme, joke, story. Love it!
So to my overtly silly friends: bring it on! and to my covertly silly friends: I'm gonna draw it out of you. and to my non-silly friends: you just think you're non-silly, and be prepared to respond to my sillyness.
